Place Holders is a 24 image series of photographs of plaster molds, that capture the form and surface of the tools of the analogue photography darkroom.
Both the photograph and the plaster mold are characterized by their relaitonship to reproduction and the absence of the original as well the logic of indexicality. Something, leaves behind a trace, an imprint, hinting towards somehting that is already lost, already past. This logic of the trace and the lost original also speaks to the dematerialization of artistic processes, especially as analogue photography vanishes and the digitalization of sculptural processes gains importance. But the molds also hold space for future shapes, as one can imagine a future cast emerging from its shell.
